Craft Background:
-----------------
The TIE Assault was designed as a heavy-duty fighter for elite units shortly after
the initial release of the regular TIE Fighter. The larger wing area made faster engines
possible and a shield system - which reflected the higher respect the Empire had for its
elite units. These craft are supposed to do what the regular TIE Fighter cannot: operate
in small numbers.

From the start the TIE Assault was being modified to boost its performance even more,
Darth Vader's modified version (The X-1) boosted double the engines, a hyperdrive and
advanced targetting systems. Eventually this lead to the TIE Advanced and TIE Interceptor
models.

Flight Group Colours of OPT:
----------------------------
Red (default): Unmarked.
Yellow: Emperor's Hammer, red EH logo and blueish hull.
Blue: Aggressor Strike Force, ASF Logo and blueish hull.
Green: Dark Brotherhood, DB logo, dark grey hull.

Craft History:
--------------
The computer game X-Wing includes a fighter that appears to be related to Lord Vader's X1.
The wings are the same as on the X1, but the hull and pylons are the those of a plain
short-range TIE fighter, without the trailing fin. It is shielded and has two laser cannons
but no hyperdrive. It is flown exclusively by Omega Squadron in this game.

The game performance statistics are the same as the TIE Advanced, except for the missile
weapons and hyperdrive. Strangely, it is replaced by Avengers in the Collector's CD-ROM
edition of X-Wing. This is a discontinuity because the Avenger was only developed much
later in the STAR WARS chronology, in the TIE Fighter game, which occurs after TESB

Actually this craft should be a required replacement for the newer releases of X-Wing,
as the difference in weaponry can affect highscores etc.

Windows XP/2K Notes:
--------------------
If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, you will need to use the XPInstaller.
Download it from the Science Office Site (current URL for the file is
http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/sco/files/craftpatch/xwa/XPInstaller.zip)
and put it in \ehpatch\ as well. Run the XPInstaller and put the name of the installing .bat
file, including ".bat" in the line.
