"In quiet seas, every ship has a good captain."

<salute>

Welcome to my eighteenth public report as a Science Officer, unavoidably late... (Damn alien abductions ;) ) ...but I can explain all that:

Science Office News:

  1. As some of you might have noticed, I disappeared for a few weeks without much notice. For this my excuses, real life can be harsh. What basically happened is that I had to move house quite suddenly, the old one getting demolished, and that my ISP got all bureaucratic on me (actually, they still are). Apparently if they promise 2 weeks max, they mean 2 months... because of admin... *strangles some random bureaucrats*. But anyway... they claim it'll be all up to regular operations in a week (...heard that one before - but ok.), till then I'll only be able to check my mail and do a bit of mIRC not upload new patches or anything.
  2. Because of minos.net behaving very oddly (according to the latest news it should be back up tomorrow) the main SCO site has disappeared. No worries: the mirror at http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/sco is still working (as far as I know, it was this afternoon :) ) and that has all the files and patches as well. As soon as I'm fully connected again I'll make the needed updates to the main site.
  3. Main patching news is for the TIE CD (and the disk) pilots: AD Darkhill released the DOS version of the rebel and transport patches. The link you can find in his post on the slicing board.
  4. During my absence, AD Darkhill improved the "Uber Project" even further *huggles Den*... which makes it even more frustrating that I can't release anything at the moment... but hang in there: this wonderful piece of coding is coming to a site near you this summer!
  5. Not a lot of patching news besides ongoing OPT creation. The Torpedo Sphere is nearly textured, as is the CAP-2, known because the bounty hunter Bossk used it as his private craft. The TIE95/XvT/BoP version of the TIE Raptor and the TIE Lander are in final testing phases while the TIE Scout and TIE X1 have been modelled.

Science Office Status:

CA:SCO: Admiral Darkhill has taken care of SCO matters during my absence and managed to improve the Windows version of the "Uber Project" (yes, the DOS version is near ready) even more... it's at version 1.5 now - lets hope TAC gets his part done one day. *whips TAC some more*. He also made and released the TIECD version of the rebel and transport flying patches.

SCOA: LC Shadd has returned from his leave and is back on the track of finding interesting sites and projects across the web... and Starshatter? More news in my next report.

SCOA: LT Kweeky has not been in contact with me yet since yesterday, so no updates yet.

Site: The Science Office site could be found at http://sco.minos.net or via the redirect http://scienceoffice.isCool.net. but isn't at the moment... Please use the mirror at http://www.gimmie.tudelft.nl/homes/blok10b/ender/sco during this hiatus.

Science Office Projects:

Star Wars - Imperium: The project's goal is to modify the Starshatter game into a viable new platform for primarily the TIE Corps and Infiltrator Wing, perhaps branching out to other SGs as well. On hold for the moment.

XvT/BoP/TIE95 Ship patches: This project's goal is to add all the original and Order of Battle craft that are still "missing" from these games, like the SSD in TIE and XvT, the Medium Transport in all etc. This project is drawing closer and closer to its end for especially TIE and XvT: started on BoP and made a few more craft to add.

Uber Projec: While finished, it has already been updated by AD Darkhill to do even more! (Everyone poke the TAC to get his part done! >;) )

Finishing up:

I think that's it - If I've forgotten anything or if you have comments, suggestions or corrections, let me know via email or look us up at #sco. Don't forget that all the projects are described in more detail on the SCO site.

(use only mindb_ender@hotmail.com for official SCO mails.) or ICQ (9706474). Preferably do not mail large files to me, but DCC them via IRC – I’m practically always online at #sco, #emperor’s_hammer and #tiecorps using the nick MindB_ndr (or variations.)

All my SCO reports are available online as well: you could until recently reach them on the SCO site: http://www.minos.net/~sco/reports/index.html but they are on the TIE Corps site, CS reports, as well.

Until next time, good luck and have fun!
