Welcome to Science Officer report #63. Another rather slow week around here as Ender is still without internet. The good news is he should have it up and running again this week. Otherwise I've been working on Imperial Alliance projects.

Science Office News:

  1. I have discovered that all the shield meshes on my ships are flipped. The game thinks the faces towards the ship is the shield instead of the faces away from it. Its the reason why none of the fighters seem to have shields and the cap ships don't show shield hits unless its a glancing shot. Speaking of shields I have now enabled the color of the laser to dissipate over the shields when hit. I've also been working on letting the A.I. be able to disable ships and to be able to dock and capture. Both of these features are sorely missing from Freespace 2.
  2. Ender has just about finished off the 1024 res graphics for the multiplayer demo. No promises but we might have a Christmas present for the EH this year.

The Imperial Alliance site is located at http://ia.emperorshammer.net - which includes the ImpED site/course at http://ia.emperorshammer.net/imped.

Command Staff Objectives:

Continued patch development and platform resource: Focussed on Imperial Alliance.

Get a release candidate version of Imperial Alliance released: Beta phase running, upgrading resolutions, checking Multi Player.

Upgrade and add to the Fleet Manual: No changes.

Science Office Projects:

Imperial Alliance: With the release of the freely available source code of FS2, we have started on making a Star Wars game out of it. We can freely distribute a finished game as long as we have all our own data files (graphics, sounds, models etc).
