Special Science Office Modifications Utilised by the Emperor's Hammer Only...
Casualties are inevitable in the ever-advancing arena of space combat, but it is the task of the Fleet Medical Corps to maintain the skill and the tools necessary to keep them to an absolute minimum. To this end, the Task Force Cruiser Last Hope (designated vessel of the Medical Corps) and its medical module have both underwent upgrades. The following design was conceived & submitted by MO/RA Mike (darkjedi@otelo-online.de), to undergo further minor modification and be executed by engineering teams under the supervision of SCO/FA Zoraan (FAZoraan@aol.com). The result was the first-ever Modified Task Force Cruiser (M/TFC) -- a humorous concept to some, being a modification of a ship that was designed with modification in mind.
Explanations Of Modifications
- Crew: More gunners as a result of more weaponry. One medical droid has recieved a reprogramming and is now our private bar droid in the Last Hope's cantina.
- Passengers: The number of available beds for patients has been reduced (19,600 to 14,600) for additional bacta tanks (2,750 to 7,750). This makes the Last Hope a more valuable and useful craft after big battles but reduces its usage as stationary hospital.
- Cargo Capacity: Due to the partially great modifications (tractor beam projectors, turbo laser batteries and better engines) a bit of the normal cargo capacity had to be used for those modifications (5,000 to 4,000 tons).
- Hyperdrive Motivator Unit (HMU): A very fast (x1 instead of x3) and efficient HMU makes sure the TFC Last Hope makes it in time into action and out of trouble.
- Hyperdrive Backup: If the main HMU does not work, the fast (x3 instead of x7) HMU-backup ensures the ship is not lagged.
- Maneuverability: equipped with slightly-larger and more powerful engines than the standard TFC, the Last Hope is able to perform fast and complex maneuvers to evade enemy fire (2D to 4D).
- Space: The same engines boost the Last Hope and make it as fast as a Carrack Strike Cruiser. They ensure the Last Hope reaches its target area as fast as possible to maximize the chances for life saving (4 to 6).
- Atmosphere: see "Space"
- Hull: Due to the excessive modifications of the engines, the exchange of normal turbolasers to turbolaser batteries, and the addition of tractor beam projectors, the hull has became slightly destabilized (3D+1 to 2D).
- Shields: To compensate the loss of the protection given by the hull, the TFC Last Hope bears a larger shield generation system than one would expect (2D to 4D+2). The shield projectors are also partly responsible for the loss of the cargo capacity.
- Sensors: The sensors have been modified to better suit the hospital-function of the ship. It lacks the good passive scanning-ability of normal TFCs (40/1D to 20/0D) but has greatly increased search and focus sensors (120/3D to 200/4D and 5/4D to 10/8D). This improves the chances of finding lost pilots.
- Weapons: The medium turbolasers have been changed to turbolaser batteries to give the TFC Last Hope more fighting and defensive power. The tractor beam projectors help to recover badly injured pilots (and/or their fighters) who are too badly wounded to make it onto the ship themselves.
